Ft. Clinch Landscaping Project
Patti Pitts, member of both the Friends of Fort Clinch State Park and the Bartram Garden Club, suggested inviting garden club members to assist in making over the entrance of the park. Working with the park staff, a plan was formulated and approved, which included weeding and rearranging the existing native plants. New plants were also introduced in keeping with the park’s commitment to use only natives indigenous to the park. The club partnered with local merchant Mike Zaffaroni, owner of Liberty Landscape Supply, and consequently all plants were donated at no cost to the park. Eight club members, led by Karen Reily, implemented the plan in early June 2019. The committee maintained a watering regimen until the plants were established.
Landscape improvements to the entrance gate and ranger station are forthcoming.
