Program: Coastal Habitats Across Florida: Resource Protection, Restoration, and Resiliency in an Ever-Changing Environment
Guest Speaker: Dr. Jennifer McGee, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission
Dr. McGee takes us on a journey through some of Florida’s most beautiful coastal habitats, highlighting both their strengths in supporting a myriad of unique flora and fauna and as a natural first line of defense against storms, as well as their fragility, discussing conservation management of naturally dynamic systems. From coral reefs to cypress swamps and mangrove islands to sea turtle nesting beaches, protecting such varied but interconnected habitats is crucial, complex, and highly collaborative. Dr. McGee provides an overview of these efforts and discusses ways to get involved. Everyone has a role to play in the conservation and preservation of the natural wonders that make up the Sunshine State.
The Bartram Garden Club is non-profit organization that promotes the love of gardening, floral design, and civic and environmental responsibility in our community. It is federated garden club associated with The National Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
